Young’s MMA product and current New England Fights bantamweight champion Fred Lear is looking to add some extra hardware to his trophy case this month.
Combat Zone MMA announced their full card for CZ63 in Manchester, New Hampshire on September 29th and Lear will be battling for the bantamweight championship. His opponent will be Jake “The Gorilla” Pilla out of Spero’s MMA who sports a 5-2 amateur record. Pilla is the former Combat Zone featherweight title holder and will be vying for the 135 pound belt at the event.
Pilla started off his career with four straight victories, including winning the featherweight belt in his third bout. The Massachusetts native has lost two of his past three fights, but picked up a victory versus Jack Greene at CZ 62 in June.
Lear is fresh off a title win at NEF 30 in Bangor in August, besting Walt Shea in the second round of the championship fight. The former John Bapst wrestler is on a three fight win streak and will be in the cage for the third time in 2017.
Tickets for the event can be found on the Combat Zone website here
